About Kateel Church...

Fr Jacob Lobo of Kinnigoli purchased a plot of land measuring 2.02 acres, added to it another 72 cents of kumki land in 1964 and on this land at Kondemula grama, a chapel was constructed and it was inaugurated on December 4, 1968. Initially this chapel was dedicated History to St Don Bosco and later, to St Jacob, the patron saint of Fr Jacob Lobo...

The Bible says, “It is good to give thanks to the Lord”. Indeed, I thank the Lord for choosing me as worthy to serve Him, at this beautiful church which is dedicated to St. Jacob. I feel privileged to be appointed here as the parish priest this year which also celebrated the Golden Jubilee Year(2022) of this parish. This parish is blessed with a mixed group of people, adding colour, beauty and vibrancy to the church. God’s admirable intervention in blessing us with such a beautiful and prominent place of worship wherein people can easily gather together for worship and togetherness and approach the church in their need, is a marvel in itself.

Golden Jubilee Celebrations 2022

The Jubilee for the 50th anniversary of the International Diaconate Centre (IDC) was held in Rome and Assisi from 21 to 25 October, 2015. In all, 574 people, deacons, wives, priests and bishops from 35 countries around the world gathered for this celebration. Most of them stayed at Fraterna Domus on the outskirts of Rome.

There were various celebrations, reflections, prayers, testimonies and pilgrimages during the Jubilee. It is worth mentioning the Eucharists held at Fraterna Domus, in the Basilica of San Lorenzo and the Basilica di San Francesco in Assisi; and Cardinal Stella, prefect of the Congregation for the clergy in the Holy See, presided at the Eucharist celebrated at the beginning of the Jubilee. Due to the cancellation of the audience with Pope Francis, he sent a message of greeting, with the Apostolic Blessing, to the Jubilee participants
